The Raglan coat by Ardentes Clipei is designed for ease and comfort. The soft, unstructured shoulder allows for movement and easy draping over a jacket. It can be worn over a suit or casually with knitwear and denim.

The fit is ample as an overcoat should be. Cut from a heavy textured Donegal tweed - a fabric made to withstand the elements, originally for hunting. This cloth will see you through many winters, and its beautiful texture adds character to your outfit. This coat is carefully crafted in our Tuscan workshop.

The Raglan Coat - Ardent

Named after Baron Raglan, he was a veteran of the Napoleonic Wars where he had lost his arm. He asked his tailor to create a coat with enough freedom of movement to be able to wield a sabre with one hand during the Crimean War (1853-1856). The Raglan sleeve coat was born.

Our Raglan coat is cut with this characteristic shoulder line. Moreover, the pattern is ample with good length. Wear it comfortably over your sports jacket or suit without feeling constrained. The collar allows for wearing the top button open or, in case of heavy winds, closed up entirely. The cloth pictured is a heavy Donegal tweed with subtle flecks, giving the fabric texture on top of its herringbone weave pattern. The dark brown, grey, and black fibres make it a versatile and rather neutral colour to wear on top of any other colour in winter.
