White Semi-Spread Collar Shirt – Ardent

This white semi-spread collar shirt is part of Ardentes Clipei's timeless ready-to-wear collection. Designed with the same attention to detail as our bespoke pieces, it stands out with its meticulous construction, a semi-fitted cut optimized for comfort, and a high-quality cotton poplin fabric.

Collar and Cut
We chose a generous semi-spread collar, whose 9.5 cm point length allows the points to easily tuck under a waistcoat or jacket lapels. This collar, designed to combine elegance and versatility, can also be worn open for a more casual style.

Building on our bespoke experience, our house has evolved the pattern of its ready-to-wear shirts. The semi-fitted cut of this white shirt offers more ease in the shoulders for optimal comfort. French seams and gussets provide additional strength, while ensuring a neat finish.

Fabric
Originating in Avignon in the 15th century, poplin is a plain-weave fabric that can be made from pure cotton, synthetic materials, or a blend of other materials. It is characterized by a dense weave and is soft to the touch.
Ours is a lightweight cotton poplin, designed for year-round use: breathable during the summer but sufficiently opaque.

Poplin, along with twill, is the dressiest shirt fabric due to its smooth and perfect surface. It is ideal for a dress shirt if one is looking for a relatively matte finish. Although often used for similar shirts, there are some key differences between the two, starting with the fact that they are not woven in the same way.

While twill is also a plain weave fabric, poplin is woven with a fine warp thread and a thicker weft thread. Although both are strong materials, poplin is often softer and more breathable than twill.

We prioritize natural materials; this shirt is cut from 100% cotton, respectful of your skin and the earth.
