Blue stripe shirt with contrasting collar and cuffs – Ardent

Our shirt with a contrasting collar and cuffs, sometimes called a "Winchester," is part of the timeless Ardent ready-to-wear collection.

This shirt is one of the most formal. Generally, this type of shirt is mainly worn buttoned up and with a tie. The white and light blue colors make it easy to combine with various suit and tie colors.

The "Winchester" shirt – named after shirt manufacturer Oliver Fisher Winchester – is a legacy of the Victorian era. During this period, shirts featured detachable collars and cuffs, allowing men to experiment with their colors and patterns.

Fit
We opted for a generous semi-spread collar, thanks to its 9.7 cm point length. This length allows the points to slide better under a waistcoat or jacket lapels. For a more casual look, this collar can also be worn open.

This shirt is still equipped with rounded French cuffs. The French seams and gusset will provide additional robustness to the shirt.

Fabric
The body of the shirt is made from Pin Point fabric; the collar and cuffs are made of 100% cotton poplin. Pin Point fabric is a variation of the Oxford weave with finer threads. Pin Point is both elegant and durable. It has a slight sheen, but not as much as Oxford or Twill.

Born in Avignon in the 15th century, poplin is a plain weave fabric that can be made from pure cotton, synthetic materials, or a blend of other materials. It is characterized by a dense weave and is soft to the touch. Ours is a lightweight cotton poplin, designed for year-round use: breathable during the summer but sufficiently opaque.

We therefore prioritize natural and resistant materials.
