Tailoring with a twist

Tailoring

with a twist

We draw inspiration from classic French tailoring, sometimes Italian sprezzatura, English sartorialism when it comes to formal wear, History, Cinema,  you name it.

We are a Parisian tailoring house fuelled by a passion for exceptional quality and the possibilities of constituting one’s unique wardrobe.

Ardentes Clipei, is latin for shining armour and that is just how we see dressing. As a shield to face the outside world and also a pretext to reveal your personality.

The tailored suit is the perfect example. It protects you, is cut to fit and emphasise your constitution – with endless ways of personalisation.

We pride ourselves on our longstanding relationship with our clients. If you make a garment with us it does not end with delivery, we guarantee our services beyond so that you will be able to take care of  and enjoy your tailoring for many years.

Trusted advisors, we listen and collaborate closely with our clients. Tailoring with a twist are the words we live by.

Romain Biette

Romain Biette

Founded in the spring of 2015 by Romain Biette, Ardentes Clipei is an extension of this tailor’s ideas.

To Romain dressing well has always been an integral part of life, of respecting oneself and facing the world in proper armor.
He initially pursued law studies but took the step to follow his gut and enroll in tailoring school. After graduating he immediately launched Ardentes Clipei, while still training with a master tailor.

Romain set out to establish his own made to measure brand, to offer tailoring in a different way, more approachable for his own generation. Re-interpreting classic French, English and Italian codes, but never too strictly, always with a twist and always as a personal project.

Besides from our own Ardentes Clipei Ties and accessories, we offer more casual garments – shirts, trousers and knitwear through our ready-to-wear line Ardent.

We also collaborate with a range of brands we consider do things exceptionally well. Simonnot Godard is one of the last independent French makers of pocket squares and handkerchiefs, skilfully made by hand since 1787. Their fabrics are practically translucent, and a symbol of old world textile craftsmanship.

Lavabre Cadet does the same for gloves, using rare leathers like peccary or carpincho, lined with cashmere for winter or nothing at all for summer.

A big fan of braces, we make ours in collaboration with Albert Thurston by hand in England.

For all things cashmere we turn to, Begg x co.  Brushed with teasels to create the iconic ripple effect we like so much, we carry a selection of their scarves and beanies for the colder months.

The Reference library, creates updated designs of classics and old school sunglasses. Only using premium materials,
we have together developed our own Signature frame inspired by French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Melville.
